Silkie Hatching video #3

New Hatchlings

Last night I watched one more baby hatch, woke up this morning and there were 3 babies peeping around. I watched a fourth hatch while eating breakfast, and then a fifth while getting ready for work. And guess what! One is what looks like a buff color you can see her in the photo above. I left the house early this morning, with one more egg Pipped. Who knows maybe they'll be another waiting when I get home.

Chicken Egg update

The hatch date for batch one of my silkie chicken eggs is tommorow! Cross your fingers and lets hope for the best! The first batch (9 eggs) has been moved from the incubator into a hatcher I made them this week ( sorry no photo yet ) . The second batch (21 eggs) will remain in the hatcher for another few days, until their incubator day 18 where they will no longer be turned daily and the humidity will be increased. I will post updates if there is any news.

Chicken Coop Day 8

I took a few days off from construction but last night was able to jump back in and got the roof complete. Only thing remaining is the wheels and a few side vents.

Not much got done last night... Lined the inside roosting and nesting box with vinyl to make clean up easier. You can see how the trap door works here as well.

I Spent the remainder of the day building the bottom frame of the chicken tractor. Just in case you don't know. There is a difference in lag screws, carriage bolts, and lag bolts....
